When Its Time to Party We Will Party Hard

Yesterday went to warped tour and it was pretty fun.
To begin my story of how i went to warped tour i must first describe the long process of getting there, I woke up at like 7 in the morning, which was way too early even if it was my idea to come early, and then went to pick up scott and emily. Unfortunately we were relying on my parents gps to get there, which i learned was actually broken and couldnt charge. So then it ran out of batteries and we had no idea where to go. Then we forgot my tickets and had to return to my house to get them. then we kept trying to firgure out how to get to merriweather pot pavillion without directions when i realized my car was running low on gas so we had to stop for gas. In the end we got there an hour later than intended, and it almost cost us free stuff.
Well then upon arrival a hippie comes up to us and gave us a bunch if books about the science of self realization and like budhism or something. Then he asked for a donation and to be nice i gave him a dollar, but he really wanted more money since the books definitly cost more than a dollar to get. Finally scott gave him five dollars and he went away and left us with one of the books. So if anyones looking to self realize themselves then feel free to borrow my book.
Next we met emilys friend in line and waited a while to get in. There were so many scene kids with funny hair in that line.
Then we went around and got free stuff. I got some new fire and ice condoms, and according to the commercials those are apparently really good. I signed a petition to free the circus elephants. I dont really care that much about the circus elephants, although i do dislike circuses, theyre creepy, i just felt awkward if i didnt sign it. In the end though it probably wont accomplish anything anyway. Which brings me to my complaint of the day. At the end they handed out those peta things about being a vegetarian. Now, Im not a vegetarian, and im not criticizing vegetarians or anything, but it seems dumb to me to make the argument on the front page only based on the fact that some bands have vegetarians in them. Thats like saying you should do something only because other people are doing it. There are plenty of more logical arguments they could use instead, although i guess there are some on the inside of the booklet thing.
Moving on from my complaint, then we saw andrew WK. It was probably the best show of the day. The moment it started a mosh pit immediatly formed right where we were standing. He sang about partying and we all partied. There was also some random aerobics girl there just dancing onstage. It was generally awesome. But i did get hit in the head and now my neck hurts.
After a short break from partying hard we went to a sum 41 signing thing, I had such a good conversation with them. It went something like this:
Sum 41: Hey
Joe:Hey
Sum 41: Hows it going?
Joe: Good
Sum 41: What bands are you here to see?
Joe: Just you guys...and Andrew WK
Sum 41: Cool
Such a good conversation. But really what do you expect. How was i supposed to hear them with some terrible screamo band shouting loudly in the stage nearby? That was totally my first encounter with famous people, and it was so awkward.
Anyway after that we saw alkaline trio. I crowd surfed for the first time. It was fun although it lasted like 5 seconds, before i got pulled down. Somewhere around then i also found a hey monday poster for scotts sister and got it signed by cassidee pope, or at least as far as she knows i did.
Then we (mostly me, everyone else was tired) tried to see reel big fish and realized they switched the schedule and it wasnt even them. It took me like 10 minutes of listening to the other band to realize it wasnt even them. I probably should of notcied when there were no trumpets and it didnt sound at all like ska. I was pretty mad about that.
Then we split up. Scott saw the casualties while me and emily saw mayday parade. They were alright. I feel bad for emily because i think we went to more like me and scott bands than emily bands, and even when we saw mayday parade which is an emily band we only saw like 3 songs.
Finally, we headed down to wait for sum 41 to play. We watched some christian metal band (scott was not happy about that, neither was I they were awful). Then pennywise came on and i went to the pit by myself cuz i wanted to be assured a good spot near sum 41. No one else went with me because they were tired, how lame. Pennywise wasnt too bad, but i really just wanted sum 41 to come on.
Well sum 41 did come on, and all these people basically tried to crush me. That and the fact that they played too many covers and were only on for 30 minutes made it not as good as it couldve been. By the end it was so hot and i was already tired from the rest of the day that i was about to collapse from exhaustion. But other than the covers they played pretty good songs and theyre still an amazing band. They should really just get their own tour, Id rather go to that. Well hopefully theyll get one after warped tours over and then i could go to it if they dont be jerks and overprice it.
Finally we watched Never shout never. I think if that guy sang another crappy song about love i would have just shot myself right there. At least he was honest and acknowledged that only girls would listen to it. I already said this at least once, but he really reminds me of a warped tour version of justin bieber.
After that wme scott and emily watched drag me to hell at my house. Just do me a favor and dont waste your dollar renting it. Somehow it seems no matter how many bad scary movies i watch i never learn and always end up watching more.
Anyway that was a really long post but that was my day at warped tour. I really hope i can go next year now and see more bands and get more free condoms.
